Helping Families Fight Breast Cancer

P.I.N.K.

                                           OUR EVENTS

All Shades of Pink has two signature annual fundraising events.  The first is our April Pink Tea Luncheon & Silent Auction.  The second event is our Fall breast cancer Pink Awareness Reception.

Pink Tea Luncheon & Silent Auction.  This event is held in April to raise funds primarily for our Emergency Assistance Program.  Participants will make silent bids on a large array of pink and white afghans and other pink items donated by patrons of the organization and local merchants as well as receive a wonderful healthy meal.  The 2009 event will be held at the Newton-White Mansion on Thursday, April 23, 2009 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

The 2008 P.I.N.K. Tea & Silent Auction was held at the Camelot of Upper Marlboro, Maryland on Saturday, April 26.  ASOP Pink Lady Awards were presented to three local area women -- Andrea Roane (WUSA9), Renee Nash (WHUR 96.3), and Dr. Michelle Craig -- for their active roles in the fight against breast cancer and breast cancer awareness.  Click here to read about our first annual fundraiser.

OUR PROGRAMS

ASOP has established an umbrella program entitled P.I.N.K. (People In Need of Kindness).  Various initiatives are underway to help in the fight against breast cancer, particularly with respect to lessening the stress breast cancer patients and their families may experience in handling day-to-day needs of the family.   P.I.N.K. Programs are designed to be stress relievers for breast cancer families by raising the spirits of the patients and their families during a time of concern and worry.

Emergency Assistance Program

All Shades of Pink has begun fundraising efforts to enable us to partner with area hospitals to be a stop-gap resource to breast cancer families in need of financial assistance regarding payment of a bill for services about to be cut-off or suspended.  We anticipate this program to launch at the beginning of 2009.  Assistance will be limited to utility services (i.e. electric, gas, phone, insurance) and in some cases other related expenses such as transportation, food and medicine.  For more information, please contact us and we will be happy to answer any questions you may have.  Click here to download the Emergency Assistance Application.  Requests must include (1) completed application form, (2) a medical confirmation letter from physician you are currently receiving treatment from and (3) copies of utility bill(s) you are seeking assistance for.

Kids Night Out

ASOP realizes that when a family member such as a mother (or father) has breast cancer, it affects the entire family.  Often, young people do not fully understand all that is going on except that their parent is sick.  We believe a night out with the kids may help the children in coping with the family member’s illness.  Kids Night Out makes available free movie passes (up to 4) and/or a certificate (valued up to $50) to a local restaurant for the family to have an enjoyable evening out. To qualify for this program, the breast cancer patient must register with us when she (or he) begins to receive treatment or during treatment and we will mail out the movie passes and restaurant gift certificate.  This program will begin in 2009.  One per family, please allow two weeks for delivery.
