All Shades of Pink
Helping Families Fight Breast Cancer
All Shades of Pink will hold its second Hoop the Loop fundraiser on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at the Glenn Dale Curves in Lanham, MD starting at 11:00 am. Our goal is to raise $5000 to support our Comfort Blanket Program.
Rain or shine we will gather at the Glenn Dale Curves for fun, exercise and to support a great cause. (Yes, we will be hula hooping indoors!) Don't know how to hula hoop? No problem, you can support by walking the circuit, joining the "Hoop the Loop" line dance or cheering our "hooper" on.
Last year's champion hooped consistently for 90 minutes. Can you top that? Hoop for a few minutes, or a lot of minutes, the goal is to have fun and support women and their families that battle breast cancer.
Register on line by clicking on button below.
Registration fees are $12 for adults and $10 for youth 12 to 18 years of age. Download the sponsor sheet and collect as many sponsors as you can. Awards will be given to individuals who raise the most donations.Volunteers now produce 40 to 45 blankets each month. Many volunteers are unable to provide a blanket every month due to limited funds. The funds raised through this event will help keep the yarn flowing to willing hands that have the time to crochet.
Please visit our comfort blanket page for more information on how you can help support this program.
TIPS FOR HOOPING
ANYONE can do it. Ten minutes a day can actually melt inches.
Beginners: 1st Week.
Hoop for 3 minutes, rest 1 minute, hoop 3 minutes, rest 1 minute, hoop 3 more minutes.
2nd Week. Try to cut out 1 rest time. Goal is to hoop for 10 minutes straight.
3rd Week. Try hooping with arms in the air for 3 minutes. Keep hoop on upper mid section for 3 minutes. Keep hoop on hips for 3 minutes. Goal is to keep the hoop where you need it most.
Try playing music as you hoop and watch the inches melt away!
