All Shades of Pink
Helping Families Fight Breast Cancer
ASOP Comfort Blanket Program
In 2008 All Shades of Pink partnered with Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, Maryland where we provide comfort blankets to their breast cancer patients directly after surgery. These blankets are provided free of charge to the patient as a symbol and reminder of ASOP’s unity with them during their fight with breast cancer.

The blankets are meant to be:
Each blanket is hand-made and fashioned by a volunteer of the organization. Every blanket is as unique as the person who creates it.
Crochet groups will meet once a month at various locations to work on and collect finished blankets. Teachers will be on hand to assist those who would like to learn to make one of these special blankets. Once the blankets are completed, a special All Shades of Pink tag is sewn on the blanket and then delivered to our partner hospitals for distribution to breast cancer patients as needed. Click here to view a sample pattern and specifications for our comfort blankets. For consistency in our giving to patients we ask that all blankets are created using a giant granny square pattern. If your pattern is substantially different then the sample provided please give us a call at 301-356-4688 for approval or clarification.

Volunteers of the organization will be meeting at the More Than Coffee Lounge at 14757 Main Street, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on the dates below. If you are working on a blanket for ASOP or would like to learn how to start making a blanket for our Blanket Comfort Program, please join us on these dates. We ask that any donating a blanket please take the time to complete the Volunteer Form and send back to us via email, fax or mail.

A STRANGER'S GIFT
(by Jean Estry)
I received a gift,
from a stranger today.
This act of kindness
In my heart will stay.
This blanket was made
By hands you can see.
All the time it took them,
They gave to a stranger like me.
How can I thank them?
How will they know?
The comfort and warmth,
I felt in body and soul.
These angels are sent,
From God up above.
And in "All Shades of Pink,"
Is their gift of love.
